A historic day in the economic relations between Poland and the Republic of South Africa.
Today in Warsaw, the Honorary Consul of South Africa took part, as a member of the official delegation, in the inaugural meeting of the South Africa–Poland Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC).
The meeting was co-chaired by John Steenhuisen, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa, and Michał Baranowski, Undersecretary of State at Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, with the participation of H.E. Nomvuli Radebe-Fargo, Ambassador of South Africa to Poland, H.E. Jacek Chodorowski, Ambassador of Poland to South Africa, and representatives of public administration and business from both countries.
Today's inauguration, on 4 September 2026, marks an important step in intensifying Polish–South African relations and naturally follows the July visit of the Polish delegation to South Africa, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.
JCEC establishes a lasting intergovernmental framework for the development of trade, investment and economic cooperation, creating space to translate dialogue into tangible joint ventures.
Poland and South Africa have enormous potential for cooperation. Silesia, too, can play an important role, thanks to its strong industrial, technological and scientific base.
The Honorary Consul of South Africa's participation in the event expressed her commitment to advancing economic relations between the two countries.

This is the largest national park in the country, covering an area of 19,485 km². It stretches southward along the border with Mozambique for approximately 320 km and is up to 50 km wide.
In the park, visitors can encounter the "Big Five" of Africa (African lion, leopard, African buffalo, black rhinoceros, African elephant), as well as the cheetah, Chapman's zebra, impala and ostrich.
The park is home to 300 tree species, 52 fish species, 33 amphibian species, 114 reptile species, 507 bird species and 147 mammal species. Within the park live approximately 300 cheetahs, 3,000 hippopotamuses, 900 leopards, 1,500 lions, 2,000 spotted hyenas, 200 black rhinoceroses, 32,000 antelopes, 7,500 elephants, 5,000 giraffes, 1,300 white rhinoceroses, and vast numbers of zebras, buffaloes and antelopes.
A ceremonial opening of the Consulate of the Republic of South Africa in Katowice took place at the Silesian Voivodeship Office. The event was organized at the invitation of Her Excellency Nomvula Radebe-Fargo, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Poland, together with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa in Katowice, Monika Nizioł. The ceremony brought together representatives of public administration, the diplomatic corps, and the region's socio-economic circles, and was attended by the Silesian Voivode, Marek Wójcik.
